Bethlehem School is a school located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Tens of thousands of students studied at Bethlehem School since it was founded in 1970. Although the school began as an elementary school, it incorporated a high school a few years ago. This campaign was initiated by an alumnus from the 1990 class with the following mission:
1. One of the main goals for this campaign is to use the funds raised to help sponsor a teacher chosen by popular alumni vote to visit the US for one month. This goal is to take the opportunity to treat those teachers who motivated us and inspired us when we were students.
NOTE: For this campaign, this opportunity would be extended to only those teachers who were staff at Bethlehem elementary school before it became a high school. Votes will only be counted from those alumni who have made a contribution. Please type in the comment box the year you attended Bethlehem school and only one teacher's name you vote for in the comment box.
2. to establish a stand-alone website that will serve as a bridge to unite teachers, staff, and alumni from all classes. The primary goal is to not only create a bridge for unity but fuel communication and a sense of community. It will also help facilitate the collection and archive of historical information, documents, and memories from years past.
3. to create a documentary that would spotlight the journey of former students, teachers, and staff.
In addition to raising funds, volunteers are needed to help get these projects off the ground. If you are inspired by this campaign and want to learn more or get involved click on the contact button above in the profile section to connect.
The following video created by EBS Worldwide highlights two former students, Rakeb and Asfaw, also EBS reporters, and their trip down memory lane during their time as students of Bethlehem School.
